Awesome Tournament & Better Charity
Tanner Laverty / April 18, 2016
If you don’t know, the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship, otherwise known as March Madness, is a big deal in the Laverty Chacon world.
Most people that know Marc and I, know we grew up playing hoops for Oakmont High School back in the day and our love for the game hasn’t diminished one bit since. So, when most companies have office pools for the Superbowl, Laverty Chacon Commercial Real Estate sponsors a March Madness bracket for anyone who would like to play. We love that time of year when we can welcome friends, family, colleagues and clients to have a bit of fun while we grind out business-as-usual. Instead of a buy-in though, every year we offer a little incentive for the players just to make it a bit competitive. This year we offered $300 to the winner and $300 to the winner’s charity of choice.
The Madness was it’s typical, exciting self with barely anyone I know predicting the winner, Villanova. But while it would be fun to break down the tournament, we think it’s more important to let you know that our friend Reed who won the tournament this year, is going to donate to the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Fund. This is a sentimental donation for Reed as he lost his mother to breast cancer when he was younger. Considering that, it makes a somewhat silly tournament and company competition a little more important when you realize the bit of giving you can do.
If you’d like to join Reed and donate to the fund, you can do so by clicking here.
